Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius has become THE icon for green vehicles. The famous hybrid comes with a 1.8L gas engine that produces 98 horsepower (134 when combined with the electric motors) and 105 lbs.-ft. of torque. The V, a more spacious version of the Prius, and the Plug-in Hybrid also runs the same drivetrain. All incarnations of the Prius come with a continuously variable transmission. This year, the Prius family welcomes a new addition: the Prius C. It features a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that develops 72 horsepower and 82 lbs.-ft. of torque, coupled with a continuously variable transmission. The conventional engine and electric motors produce a combined 99 horsepower. At a starting price of $21,000, the Prius C becomes the most affordable hybrid on the market.
