North American-Bound Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster Enters Production

Intrigued by the Ineos Grenadier? For those who’d rather have it in a pickup body style, the British company has exactly what you need: the Grenadier Quartermaster.

The first series production units started rolling off the line this week ahead of customer deliveries in Europe in December. We’ve also learned that North American sales are scheduled to begin sometime in the first half of 2024.

The name, by the way, refers to the senior military officer responsible for the supply and distribution of provisions. The Grenadier Quartermaster is a double-cab pickup based on the SUV and offering the same off-road capability, but with greater load-carrying versatility. It rides on a 305 mm longer wheelbase and has a payload of up to 760 kg.

A full box-section ladder frame chassis, heavy-duty solid beam axles, two-speed transfer case and up to three locking differentials are part of the package. Power comes from a BMW-sourced, turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine (282 hp) driving all four wheels through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Production is taking place at the former Hambach, France assembly plant where the smart fortwo used to be built. Over 50 million euros have been spent since the plant’s acquisition in 2021, resulting in a new semi-automated paintshop, a new fully automated bodyshop and a new quality centre.

Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Ineos Automotive’s North American team will soon provide details about service and maintenance. We know the first two Canadian dealerships will be located in Mississauga and Vancouver.

Pricing for the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster starts at $96,695. Trialmaster and Fieldmaster models retail for $105,995 and $105,995, respectively.

No matter where they are sold, Ineos vehicles are backed by a five-year/100,000-km comprehensive warranty, a three-year warranty for the paint and accessories, and a 12-year anti-perforation warranty for the ladder-frame chassis and body components.
