2024 Toyota Corolla Tries Its Best to Fight Inflation

Refreshed and improved for 2023, Canada’s new best-selling car returns for the 2024 model year with mild changes and minor price adjustments that will likely be appreciated by customers in these times of severe inflation. The Toyota Corolla is the best buy you can make in the compact segment according to our team at The Car Guide, ahead of the Honda Civic and the redesigned Subaru Impreza.

Toyota has enhanced its multimedia system in entry-level models. The Corolla L and LE sedans now get Safety Connect and Service Connect allowing drivers to better monitor their car’s status and health while enjoying better protection and peace of mind in the event of problems on the road.

LE Upgrade, SE and SE Upgrade models include Safety Connect, Service Connect and Remote Connect, while the XSE model also receives Drive Connect with cloud-based navigation. In all cases, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is included.

Pricing for the 2024 Toyota Corolla ranges from $23,050 for a base L sedan (still riding on 15-inch steelies!) to $34,650 for a Corolla Hybrid XSE AWD. The increase from 2023 is just $360, which is pretty reasonable. Don’t forget, however, that freight, PDI, dealer and A/C fees amount to $2,759.

Of course, the Corolla continues to excel in the fuel economy department, achieving a combined 6.7 L/100 km according to official NRC ratings. The even more efficient Corolla Hybrid can save you up to 2 L/100 km.

What about the Corolla Hatchback? For 2024, this one starts at $23,850 in base SE trim and goes up to $30,240 in top-line XSE trim.

The extremely limited, high-performance GR Corolla and its 300 horsepower can be yours from $46,490, unless you want the sportier Circuit Edition at $56,590. A new Premium model is available for 2024 in the U.S. but not in Canada. As planned, Toyota has eliminated the one-time-only MORIZO Edition.

The base Core model has been upgraded with red-painted brake calipers, while the Circuit Edition gains 18-inch forged BBS wheels, a black painted grille, parking sensors and a new Blue Flame body colour. Both get chassis and duct enhancements for enhanced stability, as well.
