Here is the 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman
When Porsche announced they would swap the flat-six engines in the Boxster and Cayman for a pair of turbocharged flat-fours, we feared that the car would lose some of its driving excitement and handling for better fuel consumption.
After driving the 718 Boxster, we can rest easy: the new car didn’t lose its edge! It’s now the hard-roofed Cayman’s turn to get the same engine. The car—which will now be known as the 718 Cayman—was just unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show.

Two engines are now offered: a 300-horsepower, 2.0-litre mill with 280 lb.-ft. of torque comes with the base model, while a 350-hp, 2.5-litre unit with 309 lb.-ft. is now featured in the sportier S variant. The standard 718 Cayman now covers the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds, while the S does it in 4.0 seconds flat.
Both versions also get retuned suspensions, a sharper steering rack as well as larger rear tires and brakes. Visually, the 718 Cayman can be recognized by its larger air intakes and new front fascia.
The 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman should arrive in dealerships next November.
