Two Subaru Concepts Scheduled For The Tokyo Motor Show

For Tokyo’s Motor Show – which will open its doors on October 29th to the automotive press – Subaru announced that it will unveil two new concept vehicles. The first one will be the VIZIV Future Concept, and the second one will be a design study of the next-generation Impreza compact.

The VIZIV Future is a direct descendant of the VIZIV and VIZIV 2 concept vehicles – as its name indicates – and picks up many of the stylistic elements that have successfully characterized the brand’s more recent prototypes. However, it more closely resembles a production vehicle than its predecessors, and could very well reach production… although it would have to gain an extra set of doors, as an SUV coupe wouldn’t be all that practical.

The VIZIV Future Concept is currently a hybrid vehicle, as it uses a small turbocharged engine to spin the front wheels, while the rear axle is powered by an electric motor. This way, Subaru can still flaunt the all-wheel-drive system that’s so important to the brand.

The second model, the Impreza 5-Door Concept, is only a design sketch for now, so it’s hard to discern how similar it will be to the finished product. Still, we can see the higher beltline and the bulging fenders, as well as Subaru’s new signature grille and LED headlight design.

That’s all we know about these two models for now. We'll have to wait until the covers are lifted at the Tokyo Motor Show to learn more out Subaru’s future plans.
