The Looks Of The 2016 Toyota Tacoma

Toyota finally decided to modernize their mid-size Tacoma pickup, after selling it for more than a decade without many changes. Some may say that Toyota got scared because of the GM Colorado/Canyon duo, but truth be told, it was more than time for the Japanese manufacturer to inject some new blood into the segment.

We recently learned that the next-gen Tacoma would be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, but Toyota recently decided to show us pictures of the truck before its official launch.

However, we don’t have any technical information, so we have to extrapolate based on what we see in the pictures: we see that the Tacoma has a four-door cab, a V6 engine (it’s written on the tailgate) and features a 4x4 drivetrain. Just like the current Tacoma, it’s probable that the upcoming truck will also be sold as a 2WD model and with a 4-cylinder engine in the less-expensive versions.

For now, we don’t know if the truck is based on an all-new chassis or if the modifications are purely esthetic. We will have to wait until January 12 to find out more.
