2014 Porsche 911 Targa Presented in Detroit

We had been expecting this unveiling at the Frankfurt International Motor Show back in in September but the Porsche 911 Targa didn’t show.

All indications were that the party was postponed until now for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit – and we were correct. It’s here and was worth the wait!

The first Porsche with a removable hardtop appeared in 1967. In 1995, a new edition of the Porsche 911 Targa received a large panoramic glass roof, which electrically slides into the rear section. The famous stainless steel roll bar was not used for that generation but it now makes a return in the 2014 Porsche 911 Targa.

Despite the arch and traditional wraparound rear window, the roof of the new Targa offers the convenience of modernism at the touch of a button as the roof panel slides under the rear window.

Under the hood you’ll find the 3.4-litre, 365-hp flat-six motor as in the regular 911. The Targa S has a 3.8-litre engine which puts out 400horepower.

Pricing starts at $115,900 for the base model and $132,600 for the Targa S.
