2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible Unveiled In Detroit

In the market for the world’s fastest four-seat convertible?  Boy, does Bentley have a deal for you.  At today’s Detroit Auto Show, Bentley unveiled the topless version of the Bentley Continental GT Speed, a land missile behemoth that represents the ultimate in conspicuous consumption for those who want to bring three friends along with them on their jaunts above the 200-mph barrier.  Coddled by luxurious wood and leather trim and upholstery, of course.

The 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible is, under its skin, the twin to the Continental GT Speed coupe, which means that it sports a W12 engine that makes use of twin turbochargers in order to pump out 616 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.  Despite the immense weight of the open-top Bentley, this motivation – distributed to all four wheels an eight-speed automatic transmission – is enough to propel the car to 60-mph in a scant 4.1 seconds.  Although Bentley is claiming that the GT Speed Convertible provides a 15 percent improvement in fuel economy, the vehicle’s official consumption figures have not yet been released.
