Six Customized Ford Mustangs To Hit SEMA Show

The Ford Mustang is one of the world's most popular tuning platforms, so it's no surprise that a gaggle of ponies will be showing up at next week's SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Six Mustangs in total will be on hand to show off what, exactly, can be accomplished with the coupe and convertible models by aftermarket companies focused on performance and style.

Ringbrothers have put together a supercharged 5.0-liter GT Mustang with bigger brakes, track-ready suspension, and a carbon fiber body kit. DSO Eyewear - an unusual participant in the modification game - will be featuring a 750 horsepower supercharged Mustang GT of their own, complete with Eibach, Brembo and 3dcarbon goodies to set it apart from the competition. A Stitchcraft Mustang V6 Convertible sees the addition of a free-flowing exhaust, a nitrous system, coilover suspension, another 3dcarbon body kit, and a custom interior so that it can play with the V8s, while M2-Motoring focuses almost exclusively on looks, using carbon fiber stripes, front and rear spoilers, and Wilwood brakes to give their entry its own unique personality. 3dcarbon, not to be outdone by the many other shops and sponsors making use of their products, comes with a 'Boy Racer' body kit painted in a Ronald McDonald red and yellow. Finally, Mothers offers a Mustang GT coupe outfitted with a RTR body kit, a 650 horsepower edition of the vehicle's eight-cylinder engine, and of course the requisite suspension goodies.

You will notice that many of the Mustangs on display at SEMA come with suspension systems that are designed to help the car do more than go fast in a straight line. This indicates the resurgent interest in the aftermarket from owners who want to take their coupes and convertibles to a road course as well as the drag strip. With the next-generation Ford Mustang just around the corner, and with rumors that it will offer the vehicle's very first independent rear suspension (discounting 90's-era Cobra models), look for this trend to continue.
