Mazda Takeri Concept: From Tokyo with Love (via Geneva)

Since the Shinari concept car presented Mazda’s new signature design language, the Takeri concept has taken it upon itself to spread the word on the company’s SKYACTIV technology.

Not only that, but the Takeri concept is also the harbringer of the next generation of the Mazda6. This intermediate sedan will be the second vehicle to adopt both the KODO esthetic and SKYACTIV technology (the first to do so was the CX-5).

The Takeri concept

First unveiled in Tokyo, this concept car features a very realistic exterior, foretelling the imminent arrival of the all-new Mazda6.

Much like the Minagi concept (Mazda CX-5), the Takeri concept (Mazda6) includes the Hiroshima-based brand’s new front treatment, which will eventually replace the “smiling” front grille seen on many of the company’s vehicles.

This concept car comes as a seductive luxury sedan that can hold up to five passengers.

Under its hood is a SKYACTIV-D diesel engine that delivers 173 horsepower and 310 lbs.-ft. of torque.

The vehicle also features a Stop-Start system and i-Eloop technology, which regenerates kinetic energy when you slow down or brake. Stored energy is then used to power the vehicle’s electrical equipment.

The Takeri Concept makes actually its European debut at the Geneva Auto Show. Meanwhile, the Mazda6 will be unveiled in September at the Paris Motor Show.
