Fiat Set to Introduce Five Door 500

When buyers were clamouring for something similar to the old Fiat 500, albeit slightly larger, Fiat delivered the 600 Multipla. Oddly proportioned and looking something like a Honey I Shrunk the Kids version of a van, the little vehicle quickly garnered much respected with Italian cab companies, who appreciated the car's efficiently designed interior cabin and thrifty little powerplant.

And although there aren't exactly hordes of people clamouring for a larger version of the current generation Fiat 500, the diminutive hatchback's slow sales has got Fiat flipping through the history books for ways to bolster its sales performance. Olivier Francois, head honcho over at Fiat, has apparently confirmed this when he announced the planned unveiling of a five door version of the 500 slated for the Geneva motor show. Known internally as Project L-Zero, the bigger car is rumoured to be a direct response to slow American sales, and as such, will certainly be made available in North America.
