2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo: Unveiled in Detroit this January

The biggest complaint people have about the current Hyundai Veloster coupe is that its engine lacks power, thereby creating an unfavourable weight-to-power ratio.

This problem will be corrected next year with the arrival of a new turbo version of this compact sport coupe.

You know the Hyundai Veloster. It’s that unique-looking coupe with one door on the driver’s side and two opposing doors on the passenger side – perfect for young couples who want a nice looking coupe without having to contort their backs every time they buckle their kid into the back seat.

The Veloster Turbo

This version will offer markedly better performances and feature some distinctive style elements, particularly the front grille which may very well look like the one on the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.

Once equipped with turbo, the 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine will see its output shoot up from 136 to more than 200 horsepower. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

Unfortunately, buyers are going to have to wait almost another year before they can get one of these unique cars for themselves.
