Mercedes-Benz finally updates C-Class Coupe for 2016

The fourth generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class lost 220 lbs. when it launched in 2014, and now it's losing two doors, with the German brand unveiling an all-new coupe version of the car.

Built on the same MRA platform that underpins the sedan, the new C-Class Coupe sports an 80-millimetre longer wheelbase, and is 95 millimetres longer and 40 millimetres wider while sitting 15 millimetres lower than its four-door sibling.

Powertrain options will mirror what's available in the North American sedan, with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder making 241 horsepower and 273 lb.-ft. of torque, and a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 making 329 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque.

A Mercedes-AMG variant will also be available at some point next year, mimicking the 469 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque found in the sedan version.

No word yet on when the new coupe will arrive this side of the Atlantic, but Mercedes says it will be available in Europe in December.
