A Bargain On A Ferrari Enzo

Each generation of gearheads has its poster car: a vehicle that defined their era, and rewrote the definition of performance. They were typically Italian cars, too: the oldest among us had a poster of a Miura or a Ferrari 288 GTO, and then it was the Countach, the Diablo, the F40 and F50…

Mine was the Enzo. Launched in 2002, it blew everything else away to become the ultimate supercar. Equipped with a 6 litre V12 pumping out 650 horsepower, a semi-automatic gearbox that came from Ferrari’s Formula One team and technologies that were unheard of in a street car, this car sold for $640,000 USD when it came out. Today, they can reach $1.8 million at auctions.

This is why this ad for a $376,000 Enzo with only 2,215 miles on it is a more than a little suspicious. Why is it so cheap? A closer inspection reveals the problem: during a service, the mechanic had the brilliant idea of taking the car for a joyride. He spun out and crashed the car. The damage may look serious, but it could have been a lot worse, since the engine and transmission were untouched.

Estimates say the car could be repaired for around $870,000. If you have the means, this Enzo could be a serious investment!
