Review: 2016 smart fortwo

"When the smart car first arrived in Canada in 2004 it created a buzz simply because of its size or lack of," says Brad Diamond.

Unfortunately that buzz didn't translate into much more than that, in large part thanks to its bizarre transmission that most at Motoring TV ranked among the worst they had ever driven.

Fast-forward a dozen years, and smart has introduced a redesigned fortwo that brings a new engine, a new drive and, thankfully, a pair of new transmissions on offer.

The Motoring TV team was in Portland, Ore., to drive the 2016 smart fortwo to find out what the third generation car brings to the table.

This segment originally appeared on Episode 2 of Motoring 2016.
