The completely redesigned, sixth-generation 2019 Altima is the first Nissan sedan in Canada to feature all-wheel drive—and it's standard on all trim levels. Blessed with edgier, more dynamic styling, it aims to further separate itself from rivals with ProPILOT Assist, which enables semi-autonomous driving, and Nissan's Safety Shield 360, a suite of six advanced active safety systems. Under the hood is a 182-horsepower four-cylinder engine that continues to focus on fuel economy.

First DrivesNissan Altima-te AWD: Just Because
Why would a company like Nissan spend thousands of dollars to transform an ordinary sedan into a snow-busting, track-equipped vehicle that will never go on sale? The better question might be: why not? In order to promote its brand new all-wheel-drive Altima , Nissan Canada came up with a unique …

After years of declining Altima sales in Canada, Nissan has finally taken the bull by the horns. 2019 sees not only the arrival of the sixth generation of this midsize sedan, but also the addition of all-wheel drive. Finally some Competition for the Subaru Legacy! In the midsize sedan segment, …
First Drives2016 Nissan Altima: Making Big Changes With Small Details
To keep a model’s sales flowing, there are two or three ways to proceed, ranging from simple (purchase incentives) to very expensive (start from scratch and design a whole new vehicle). Nissan recently invited us to get behind the wheel of the 2016 Altima, and I was anxious to see …
Test Drives2015 Nissan Altima: Through The Heart Of America
The Nissan Altima, which is not particularly well-known and not always well-loved, is offering nothing new for 2015. Or almost nothing. Test Drives2014 Nissan Altima: A Mean Machine
As the title of this article suggests, the Altima is a mean machine—but more in the mathematical sense rather than the macho one. Here, “mean” means average, or ordinary. Don’t get me wrong, the Nissan Altima isn’t a bad car by any means. On the contrary, it has some great …

What’s the most important quality of a mid-size sedan: a distinct personality to call its own, or the ability to please most of the people, most of the time? From a sales perspective, the latter design spec more often than not takes precedence over the former when dealing with family …
First Drives2013 Nissan Altima: Muted sportiness
The new Altima tones down its sportiness: gone is the manual gearbox – replaced exclusively by a CVT – and the suspension is more accommodating, at least on the V6 version. Instead, there’s a glut of technology and the outside – and the inside when it has leather upholstery – …
Test Drives2010 Nissan Altima Coupe: An Accord Alternative
It’s been three years since I found myself astride Nissan’s entry-level sports coupe. Debuting to much fanfare in 2007, the coupe’s looks aped that of its bigger, more potent brother; providing buyers with a fine counterpoint to the controversial appearance of Honda’s latest Accord coupe. And it still does. Although …
