Undoubtedly one of the most unique-looking cars in North America, the BMW i3 is an electric city car with an operating range of 200 kilometres when equipped with the new 94 amperes/hour battery, and 130 kilometres with the 60 amperes/hour battery. If you're concerned about running out of electric power, the REx (Range Extender) version adds a small 0.7-litre two-cylinder engine. Be forewarned: driving in an electric BMW isn't for all budgets: a fully-loaded i3 can run you nearly $60,000.
