Watch: Travis Pastrana’s Crew Jumps a New Corvette 110 Feet
The same week that Chevrolet announced the 1,250-horsepower 2026 Corvette ZR1X, another wild C8 Corvette is attracting attention on the web—and for no less spectacular reasons.
In a YouTube video posted by Channel 199, renowned race car driver, drift master and stuntman Travis Pastrana shares his team's efforts to achieve a record jump with Chevrolet's mid-engined sports car.

Pastrana is no stranger to such aerobatics, of course. We all remember his incredible feats in some of the Gymkhana films including an insane jump over a bridge in a highly modified 1983 Subaru GL Wagon back in 2022. This time, however, his buddy Jim York—also a stunt driver—was behind the wheel of the Corvette.
As you can see in the video, this was not done in an open area with a straight, flat launch pad to ensure a controlled take-off, but rather in the middle of the woods with a narrow, curved dirt road leading to the huge mounds for take-off and landing. A few tests with other vehicles were carried out before the big day.
Obviously, the car’s speed for what would be a 110-foot (33-metre) jump had to be calculated and achieved with great precision. Pastrana and his team determined that the Corvette should ideally be going at 70-72 mph (112-116 km/h) when launching in the air. York pulled it off, barely, as the car nosedived at the end and hit the ground hard, triggering the front airbag.

By the way, Pastrana sold the brand-new Corvette Z06 he received after winning the Freedom 500 race in April to buy the Corvette Stingray you see here. Apart from the new, patriotic livery, very few modifications were made.
Only in America, folks!
