2026 Ford Mustang Gets Fox Body Vibes With FX Package
It's not just the Toyota Corolla Hatchback that's going back to the 1980s and getting an FX package for 2026. The same is true of the Ford Mustang.
Inspired by the third-generation ‘Fox Body’ Mustang, which ended production over 30 years ago, the Blue Oval company is offering nostalgic enthusiasts a way to revive this particular era of Mustang history.

The new Mustang FX Package is available on GT Premium models, regardless of body style or transmission choice and with or without the Performance package. It comes with two unique wheel designs: the standard wheel is a new take on the existing 19-inch split-five-spoke design, while the Performance package draws inspiration from iconic Fox Body designs. Both are finished in mid-gloss Oxford White and feature colour-matched centre caps, stamped with the Mustang GT wordmark in an all-new font.

That last detail was developed specifically for the FX Package and patented by the Ford Vehicle Personalization team, drawing inspiration from the wordmark that appeared on the front and rear of the 1987-1993 Mustang models. It also appears on the rear window of coupe models with the Mustang FX Package.
Elsewhere, Oxford White is applied to the various badges and, in the case of Performance pack models, the nostrils flanking the grille (the latter are finished in Dark Carbonized Gray otherwise). White taillights are part of the mix, too, and will be available in the Ford Performance Parts catalog.

Inside, we love the perforated leather with black and white elements mimicking the plaid inserts of the 1980s seats—available on both the standard bucket seats and the optional, coupe-only Recaro sport seats. These inserts pair with dual-contrast stitching featuring City Silver and Adriatic Blue thread on the seats, dash, door panels, steering wheel and centre console. An FX-exclusive Mustang GT badge on the dashboard and Dark Alley trim from the Mustang Dark Horse round out the interior changes.

One last thing: Adriatic Blue Metallic, which is inspired by Teal from the third-generation Mustang, joins the body colour palette for 2026 along with Orange Fury Metallic Tricoat, which returns for the first time since 2019. Oh, and there are new seatbelt options available in International Orange, Prime Blue or Black with a red stripe.
The order banks for the 2026 Ford Mustang lineup open on June 17. Canadian pricing has yet to be announced. As reported in late February, it’s possible the almighty Mustang Shelby GT500 will return for 2026 based on information shared by the United Auto Workers. We’ll keep you posted.
