This New Jeep Gladiator Still Isn’t the One We’re Waiting For
Jeep has just announced a new edition of its Gladiator pickup called Dark Sky, which joins the lineup for 2025. Once again, the brand is having fun with colours and options—nothing like the Easter Jeep Safari concepts, of course—but it's not the model we're most looking forward to.
This Gladiator Dark Sky stands out with a performance hood to evoke the Desert-rated Mojave styling, gloss black bumper inserts, as well as dark-coloured badges and decals. These extras come bundled at a price of $1,495.

Content is based on the entry-level Sport S model. However, for the first time, customers have the ability to equip an optional body-coloured hardtop roof for a premium of $3,095. Orders for the Gladiator Dark Sky are now open at Jeep dealers in Canada.

To be clear, there are no changes where the powertrain is concerned. After Jeep dropped the six-speed manual transmission for 2025, the 3.6-litre V6 (285 horsepower, 260 lb-ft of torque) now pairs exclusively with the eight-speed automatic transmission on every model. The Gladiator continues to boast a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lbs, which is unsurpassed among 4x4 midsize pickups.
If you recall, Jeep last year confirmed that a Gladiator 4xe with plug-in hybrid technology would arrive sometime in 2025. We still haven’t seen it, and we now assume it’ll debut as a 2026 model rather than a 2025.

Similar to the Wrangler 4xe, the upcoming Gladiator 4xe will combine a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and 17kWh battery. Look for the same 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. However, pure electric range will likely be slightly different from the 35 km we have with the Wrangler 4xe.
The only hybrid midsize pickup on the market right now is the new Toyota Tacoma i-Force MAX, but that one can’t be plugged in or driven on battery power alone. What are you waiting for, Jeep?
