2026 Toyota RAV4 Reveal Date Announced, Teaser Shows Interior
The fully redesigned 2026 Toyota RAV4 is just around the corner. The company is giving us our first official look today, saying that “the countdown to the next adventure begins.” The reveal will take place on May 20 at 9pm EDT.
To be clear, Toyota doesn't actually refer to the RAV4 in its teaser, but what else could it be other than the sixth generation of the immensely popular Japanese compact? With more than 475,000 units sold in the U.S. last year and another 77,000 in Canada, the RAV4 is the second best-selling vehicle on the market, trailing only the Ford F-150.
Camouflaged prototypes were caught testing on the roads of Detroit at the end of January. Today, Toyota shows us three aerial views (picture above) evoking the RAV4’s versatility and ability to tackle different conditions and environments, from “urban streets to outdoor retreats.” Two additional shots from Europe uncover part of the interior:
We can see all-new displays for the instruments and infotainment systems along with a new head-up display. The steering wheel and centre console, the latter featuring a small, stubby shifter, also benefit from a major redesign.
Overall, the interior design is more linear, and we expect the exterior to be boxier, as well, giving the RAV4 a truck-like appearance similar to its larger siblings—as first suggested by the image that leaked onto Chinese social media Weibo this winter. What's more, the vehicle’s dimensions will certainly be enlarged to increase space.
As for powertrain options, look for the plug-in hybrid variant to offer even more electric range than the outgoing model’s 68 km. It also seems likely that the new RAV4 will go hybrid-only, ditching the entry-level gas engine in the process. If this happens, the base price will inevitably increase, but we have a hard time imagining Toyota Canada pushing it past $40,000 (including freight, PDI and other fees).
