HEMI V8 Reportedly Returning in Ram 1500
Replacing the HEMI V8 engines with a new twin-turbo six-cylinder in the Ram 1500 has been a controversial move to say the least, but according to the latest rumours, it might be only temporary.
Sportsnaut has shared an email from a Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram dealer employee in the U.S. who allegedly watched a ‘go to market’ meeting during which company officials revealed plans various future products.

The 5.7-litre HEMI V8 will reportedly be offered in the Ram 1500 once again. Not only that, but it looks like it will be joined by the 6.4-litre HEMI that’s currently available in the Ram Heavy Duty.

That was the wish—but not a promise—of CEO Tim Kuniskis, who came out of a six-month retirement in December following the resignation of Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares.
For the HEMI V8 engines to return, however, Kuniskis and his team will have to solve the production issues and the need to comply with emission regulations that led to the dismissal of those engines in the first place. UPDATE (03/10/2024, 6:30 pm) : The Car Guide has received confirmation from people familiar with the matter that the HEMI V8 engines will come back to the Ram 1500 lineup around mid-2025.
The aforementioned email also claims that the Ram 1500 TRX will return with even more power and torque than what the supercharged 6.2-litre V8 delivered (702 hp, 650 lb-ft). It makes no mention of the powerplant under the hood, mind you.

Meanwhile, the Ram 2500 and 3500 are apparently getting a Night Edition and a new Warlock model within a year. Furthermore, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon off-road pickup is said to add a six-cylinder Cummins turbodiesel option (430 hp, 1,075 lb-ft) to complement the 6.4-litre HEMI V8 (405 hp, 429 lb-ft), making it a more compelling alternative to the Chevrolet Silverado HD ZR2 and GMC Sierra HD AT4X.
Since the company is not commenting on future products, we’ll have to wait for official announcements later in 2025. Watch this space.
