Kia Unveils EV2 Concept, Provides EV4 and PV5 Specs

Kia today unveiled the EV2 Concept and officially introduced the new EV4 and PV5—which we first saw a week ago—at the brand’s 2025 EV Day in Tarragona, Spain.

Below is an overview of the former and further details about the other two vehicles.

Kia EV2 Concept

The EV2 is Kia's smallest electric vehicle to date. The production model will go on sale in Europe and other markets in 2026, but you can forget about it in North America. Despite its baby SUV looks, it's really just a small hatchback designed for city driving.

Oh, the EV2 certainly does not lack flair. Heck, some might even call it rugged. Kia's signature Star Map lighting signature is there, while rear-hinged back doors provide easy access to a two-tone cabin with plenty of legroom. What's more, the rear seat folds up so that the front bench can be moved back as far as possible (ideal for relaxing while the vehicle is charging, for example) or to improvise a picnic area.

Diagonal LED lighting on the front door panels beautifully accentuate the contrast between the front and rear spaces. Elsewhere, the triangular-pattern lighting and unique LED dashboard animation together create a relaxing and inspiring interior atmosphere. By the way, the triangular metal surface that runs along the lower portion of the dashboard incorporates a wireless charger and a power outlet.

Kia says message lighting allows occupants to display text messages through the windows to communicate with pedestrians and other road users. What’s more, the triangular speakers mounted in the door trim are removable and portable. Pretty cool, eh?

Details about the EV2 powertrain will be shared at a later date.

Kia EV4

Breaking with the obsession for SUVs and crossovers, the new Kia EV4 is an electric car available in both four-door sedan (similar in size to the K4) and five-door hatchback configurations, with the former having a highly aerodynamic design resulting in a drag coefficient of just 0.23. Sharing its E-GMP platform with the existing EV6 and EV9 as well as the upcoming EV3 and EV5, it can be fitted with a 58.3kWh or 81.4kWh battery offering up to 430 km and 630 km of range, respectively (590 km for the EV4 hatchback). Just to be clear, these numbers are based on the more optimistic WLTP standard used in Europe and South Korea.

Via the charging port on the front fender, it would take 31 minutes to charge the larger battery from 10-80 percent, according to Kia, while vehicle-to-load capability means you could power electric devices or even charge another EV. A single motor delivers 201 hp to the front wheels and allows sprints from 0-100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, again with the larger battery. No all-wheel drive variant is seemingly planned for the EV4.

The front suspension includes an EV-specialized MacPherson strut design, with a multi-link set-up and coil-over units at the rear. Combined with first-in-class application of third generation ‘SFD3’ frequency-responsive valves in the EV4’s suspension dampers, the result is reduced noise and vibration along with improved ride quality.

Inside, the EV4’s 30-inch display captures most of the attention. Users can take advantage of new display themes, such as NBA and Disney-related content, plus a Vehicle Smart TV solution offering a rich array of entertainment options (YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, games and karaoke).

Kia’s AI Assistant leverages machine learning to continuously improve voice recognition response accuracy, while remote OTA updates make it possible to carry out updates remotely via their smartphones.

What else? The sedan boasts a huge trunk that can fit 490 litres of cargo, and a GT-line model adds sporty flair with wing-shaped front and rear bumpers as well as triangular-motif 19-inch wheels.

Production will take place in South Korea except for the EV4 hatchback which will be built in Slovakia since it’s primarily targeting sales in Europe. Units for North America and other regions will roll out of the factory later this year, likely for an early-2026 launch.

Kia PV5

Standing 4,695 mm long and 1,895 mm wide, the equally new PV5 compact van is Kia’s first purpose-built electric vehicle, based on the Electric-Global Modular Platform for Service (E-GMP.S). At the core of this innovation is the Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA), which standardizes essential components such as batteries and motors.

The PV5 will be offered in three body styles: Passenger, Cargo and Chassis Cab. Additionally, Kia has developed the Flexible Body System enabling conversion models including WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle), Family, Crew, Drop Side, Box Van, Freezer Box, Prime and Light Camper.

The PV5 Passenger’s interior is based on a three-row seat configuration. One could use the first and second rows for seating and the third row as a spacious luggage area, complemented by a bottom luggage tray and side storage trays for optimal space utilization. Meanwhile, the PV5 Cargo offers three specifications: Standard, Long and High-roof, with the High-roof also available in a Walk-Through version. There are 5,100 litres of maximum cargo space and a low cargo step height of just 419mm. An optional L-track mounting system provides unprecedented flexibility, Kia says.

In all PV5 models, innovative and eco-friendly materials are part of the mix. Thermoplastic olefin (TPO), for instance, is a durable and easy-to-clean flooring alternative to PVC. A 7-inch instrument cluster is paired with a 12.9-inch navigation screen, the latter powered by Android Automotive OS. Users can look for a bunch of apps and services provided by Google and Samsung, among others.

As for the powertrain, the PV5 offers a choice of 51.5kWh and 71.2kWh NCM batteries, with an additional 43.3kWh LFP battery option for the PV5 Cargo. This drives a front motor producing 161 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with the larger battery, the PV5 Passenger achieves a WLTP-estimated range of up to 400 km and a fast-charging time from 10-80 percent of 30 minutes.

Sales of the Kia PV5 will begin in South Korea and Europe in the second half of this year, followed by launches in other markets in 2026. Plans for Canada are not immediately known.
