Consumer Reports Lists 10 Most Satisfying New Models and 67 Used Vehicles to Avoid

Looking for a new vehicle? The Car Guide’s Best Buys section is always a good place to start. If you have a particular model in mind or maybe a few, our test drives and reviews will tell you about their various strengths and weaknesses.

We also make a point to regularly post studies and rankings of vehicles based on initial quality, safety, reliability and more. What about owner satisfaction? That matters, too, of course.

Just like every year, U.S. magazine Consumer Reports recently polled its members about their car purchases. More specifically, they asked them if they would definitely buy or lease the same model when given the opportunity.

Here’s what the top 10 looks like:

  1. Chevrolet Corvette – 92%
  2. Rivian R1T – 88%
  3. Chevrolet Equinox EV – 88%
  4. Lincoln Nautilus – 86%
  5. Lexus NX 450h+ – 84%
  6. Rivian R1S – 84%
  7. Lexus ES 300h – 84%
  8. BMW X5 – 84%
  9. Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid – 83%
  10. BMW i4 – 83%

“A vehicle could have below-average reliability or not be a standout in our testing and still make owners happy,” said Steven Elek, who oversees auto data analytics at Consumer Reports.

On that note…

67 Used Vehicles to Avoid

The publication has also released its updated list of used cars, SUVs and trucks to avoid due to a number of reliability issues. This is based on data collected from Consumer Reports members, comparing how many problems a model has had with the average problem rate for all vehicles of the same model year.
