Nissan Canada Extends $5,000 Rebate on Ariya Through February
Following the abrupt halt to Transport Canada’s iZEV program last month, a number of automakers stepped up and announced a $5,000 rebate to offset the loss of the federal incentive—at least until the end of January.
Nissan Canada this week said it will continue to offer an equivalent rebate of $5,000 (after tax) on all new Ariya models sold or leased across the country during the month of February.

“At Nissan, our customers are our top priority, and we are dedicated to providing the best possible support and solutions to them,” the company said in a statement. “We believe that the sudden federal government's decision to suspend the iZEV rebate program is unfair to valued customers who were in the process of purchasing an electric vehicle.”

Nissan’s incentive does not apply to the LEAF hatchback, to be clear. The Ariya was already being discounted $2,500 or $5,000 depending on the model in a bid to attract more customers.
Following a rough performance in 2023, sales of the Japanese electric crossover increased by as much as 119 percent in Canada last year. However, with 3,964 units sold, the Ariya still trailed the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Volkswagen ID.4, Toyota bZ4X and Kia EV6.

In Quebec, where EV buyers used to get an extra $4,000 off, the province’s own rebate program was suspended on February 1. It’s expected to resume in April following the announcement of the 2025-2026 Budget.
