2025 Ford Maverick: Five Models, Which One Should You Choose?

The Ford Maverick has received an extensive mid-cycle update for 2025 including revised looks, a bunch of new technologies and a highly anticipated powertrain combo: the Maverick Hybrid (191 hp) can finally be paired with all-wheel drive. According to Ford, fuel consumption in city driving increases from 5.6 L/100 km with FWD to 5.9 L/100 km with AWD.

Canadians have been able to order their 2025 Ford Maverick for quite a while now, but we’ve yet to talk about full pricing details, so here they are. Read on to find out which model is best for you.

The Maverick lineup once again starts with the base XL model, which retails for $36,795 with the hybrid system or $39,295 when you add AWD (+$2,500). When selecting the 2.0-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost (238 horsepower, AWD only), you’re looking at $37,295 before tax. Incidentally, all prices listed here included $2,195 freight and PDI plus $100 A/C tax.

Next up is the XLT model, which starts at $39,295 (Hybrid) or $39,795 (EcoBoost). In our opinion, you won’t find better value in other 2025 Mavericks.

There’s a pretty big step to reach the Lariat model, although this one is significantly more loaded with features and tech. You also have to know that pricing is lower with the EcoBoost engine ($46,395) than with the hybrid system ($48,395). Why? Simply because the latter cannot be ordered with FWD in Lariat trim.

The remaining two models are aimed at very different customers, each one equipped with EcoBoost power and AWD. At $49,895, the Maverick Tremor is no longer just a package but a standalone model offering superior off-road performance. It now includes a standard 360-degree camera and new one-pedal driving capability.

The New Star

Meanwhile, the sporty Maverick Lobo is a new addition for 2025 and costs $50,095. Inspired by the slammed trucks that were popular from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s, it boasts a unique front fascia, painted rear bumper and rocker mouldings. These elements contrast with a black-painted roof and saucer-style, 19-inch black wheels. In the cabin, you’ll find Grabber Blue and Electric Lime accent stitching, a graffiti-inspired overprint on the seats as a nod to street culture, plus the “Lobo” name embossed into the black driver and passenger seats.

The truck gets even better and cooler with an on-road-tuned suspension, lower ride height, sharper steering and torque vectoring achieved through a twin-clutch rear drive unit. The bigger, enhanced brakes with dual-piston front callipers and seven-speed automatic transmission both come from the Euro-spec Focus ST. Then there’s a new Lobo drive mode that improves cornering performance, grip and stability, though it is meant only for closed courses because it reduces ESC intervention.

As a final note, all 2025 Ford Maverick models get a 13.2-inch display that replaces the previous 8-inch screen and is powered by SYNC 4 with enhanced voice recognition and compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A new built-in 5G modem allows the pickup to receive software updates to keep its systems up to date.
