Saleen Releases Picture and Specs of 2024 Saleen Mustang

Once a predominant name of the industry – especially when it came to Mustangs -, Saleen seems to be lurking in the shadows after a series of scandals and failed ventures. The latest fiasco involving the automaker was a venture in China based on a partnership between Steve Saleen and a Chinese investor was supposed to bring a successor to the famed S7, the S1, to the Chinese market.

The project was announced during ‘Saleen Night’, an event hosted at the “Bird’s Nest” National Stadium in Beijing with a special appearance by action movie star Jason Statham, who was a “brand ambassador” for Saleen in China at the time.

The partner in question, Charles Wang, allegedly embezzled the equivalent of 1 Billion U.S. dollars in government funds to build a plant and secure patents. The Chinese plant, which was supposed to be completed in 2019 and have the capacity to produce 150,000 cars per year, was auctioned off in 2020.

But the company never really stopped doing what it did best: building Mustangs in the U.S. But until now, we didn’t know if Saleen had anything new in the works.

A couple of days ago, Saleen posted a picture on Instagram saying it will be building Saleens based on the new S650 Ford Mustang.

The packages will obviously include performance upgrades. According to the post, the 2024 Saleen Mustang will be offered in three models with distinct power levels. The White Label will develop “a minimum” of 500 horsepower, the Yellow Label 750hp and Saleen says the ultimate Black Label model should exceed 800 horsepower.

The post also mentions that each Saleen model will get a Racecraft suspension, bigger brakes and aesthetic add-ons for “improved aerodynamics.”  The interior will also bear the Saleen signature.

The company still showcases the S1 on its website, as well as the previous-generation Mustang, Ford F-150 and Bronco packages as well as its own version of the Tesla Model S, the Saleen GTX.

Will the Saleen name return to its former glory? Only time (and product quality) will tell!
