Next-Gen 2024 Lincoln Nautilus Unveiled With Full-Width Display

New York—Lincoln hosted the world premiere of the all-new 2024 Nautilus in the Big Apple on Monday night. This next-generation crossover will launch in several markets when production kicks off in China later this year.

As for the current-generation Nautilus, it will stop rolling off the line in Oakville, Ontario at the end of October.

For Lincoln executives, the midsize luxury segment offers plenty of potential, and they want to use this opportunity to attract younger customers with a more stylish design.

While similar in size to the outgoing model, the new and improved Nautilus has a shape that’s not unlike the larger Aviator’s, with a horizontal beltline and gently sloping roofline. It does stand out with a completely unique front grille and LED signature, including a thin light bar that runs the full width of the vehicle and bisects the headlamps. Even Lincoln’s star logo is illuminated at night.

Design director Kemal Curic says the whole thing is inspired by a bird spreading its wings and taking off. The same can be said about the new taillamp design in the rear, except that the wings are pointing down this time. To top it all off, a welcome sequence starts whenever the driver unlocks the vehicle.

Oh, and you might have spotted the door handles at the base of the side windows. This is a clear nod to the late Continental sedan, of course. The 2024 Nautilus is bigger in every dimension despite riding on the same platform as the compact-sized Corsair. That’s mainly the reason why the available 22-inch wheels don’t look out of place.

Step inside, and a whole new environment awaits, highlighted by a full-width digital display near the base of the windshield. The main dashboard sits lower than usual, while the 11.1-inch centre touchscreen is smaller than those in other Lincoln SUVs. It’s like a bridge between front-seat occupants and the aforementioned display, which can provide all sorts of information and content.

The main instruments are still found in front of the driver, but the remaining digital real estate can be configured almost infinitely. We’re not exaggerating: there are so many display options to choose from. Ambient lighting is widely customizable, as well.

Lincoln also has a Rejuvenate program with three available scents, soothing animations and various memory options for seat position and massage. Want to relax? This is definitely the place to be.

Under the hood, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus shares its standard powertrain with the Corsair, namely a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine delivering 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft. of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are included on every model.

Optionally, the same turbo-four can be paired with a 100kW electric motor and a small lithium-ion battery. Total system output for this range-topping hybrid powertrain is rated at 310 horsepower. Similar to the Corsair Grand Touring (PHEV), this Nautilus features a continuously variable transmission along with all-wheel drive.

As for technology, look for over-the-air software updates, BlueCruise 1.2 semi-autonomous driving assist, 5G connectivity, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus so much more. And yet, with an estimated base MSRP of $49,000 in the U.S and $61,900 in Canada, the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is slightly more expensive than the outgoing model. Reservations open this week, with the first deliveries scheduled for early next year.
