The Car Guide Podcast: Auto Awards Season Has Officially Kicked Off!

It always feels a wee bit funny to congratulate a car… However, in the current era of groundbreaking technologies and electrification, awards matter because they not only celebrate automotive passion, they give a pat on the back of the manufacturers that go the extra mile. At the beginning of every year, select new models, are crowned by the automotive press during what could be dubbed Auto Awards season.

The Canadian Car and SUV of the Year have both been unveiled during the opening of the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto in February, and before that, the North American Car Truck and SUV of the year have received their trophies. On this 9th episode of The Car Guide Podcast, LP and Gab talk about automotive awards season and the cream of the crop that received the shiny trophies this year.

Our hosts also talk about the Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) in Toronto. The event hit some serious attendance records despite the very shy participation from OEMs. Hyundai, Kia, Subaru and a few other unveiling were covered by the team at The Car Guide at the Six’s Metro Convention Centre.

CIAS had its largest single-day audience and third-highest total audience ever, with 350,214 people walking through the doors over the course of 10 days.

LP and Gab also discuss VinFast latest headlines regarding budget cuts, and how this means for current and potential buyers, as well as reservation holders.
