2010 Nissan Patrol Gives Insight On 2011 QX56

Nissan’s Patrol has gained worldwide recognition as a first rate all-roader. Never breaching our borders, the simplistic 4x4 has been the preferred vehicle of use for such demanding groups as the United Nations, serving with distinction alongside Toyota’s Land Cruiser and Land Rover’s Defender.

But, it would appear the Patrol will roll into the next decade in a slightly more auspicious fashion. Debuting, fittingly, in Abu Dhabi, the all-new Nissan Patrol takes a page from the Toyota Land Cruiser’s page as it moves decidedly upmarket. Four wheel independent suspension, curvaceous sheetmetal, a thirsty 5.6L V8, and some serious luxury amenities separate this Patrol from previous versions in an effort to gain more market share in cash-rich expanding markets that demand slightly more durable vehicles, like the Middle East.

Although none of this should come as a surprise, since the international Patrol will be arriving on North American shores as the next generation Infiniti QX56. The only question remaining is whether or not Nissan will bring the Patrol over under the Nissan brand as well, and if that vehicle will be rebadged to fill the current Armada’s role as Nissan’s big SUV.
