Apple Car Project Reportedly Scaled Back and Delayed Another Year
While the maker of its iPhone is expanding its presence in the auto industry, Apple’s car project—known internally as Project Titan—has seemingly been idling for several months.
Now, people familiar with the matter have told Bloomberg that the California-based tech giant has scaled back its ambitions and delayed the launch one more year to 2026.

It appears Apple executives have given up on the idea of a fully autonomous car—with no pedals or steering wheel—seeing how development of the technology is far from getting to that level.
Look for a much more conventional vehicle and a lower price point. Bloomberg’s report hints at a Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQS competitor starting under $100,000 USD.
There are no clues about the design, which is said to be still at a very preliminary stage, but we fully expect Apple to come up with a different look and configuration than the two models listed above. If the launch does take place in 2026 as now planned, we could see an actual concept or prototype within the next two years, after which Apple will do lengthy tests on the track and on the road to finalize the development.
Because it lacks precious experience when it comes to automobiles, other than seeking to spread its CarPlay tentacles further with the next-generation interface, Tim Cook’s company will inevitably turn to a partner to build its car. Foxconn could be an option, but the hope is still that a major automaker decides to team up. As previously reported, it won’t be Hyundai or Volkswagen as talks with both failed to produce a deal.
