13 McLaren F1s Worth $380M Reunite to Celebrate 30th Anniversary
Introduced in 1992, the legendary McLaren F1 is one of the rarest, most valuable and fastest production cars of all time with a 6.1-litre V12 engine delivering 618 horsepower. Its record top speed of 386 km/h was surpassed in 2005 by the Bugatti Veyron (408 km/h).
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the F1, Classic Driver and Kiklo Spaces managed to bring together an unprecedented 13 of the 106 units that were built over seven years during a private event held in the U.K. earlier this month.

Among them were five F1 road cars, five F1 GTR race cars (including acclaimed engineer Adrian Newey’s Papaya Orange car) and three GTR Longtail models, one of which was a prototype. Their combined value was estimated at $380 million CAD.
One of those road cars was a custom two-tone grey/silver unit built specifically for the founder of Uneo Clinic in Japan, the company that sponsored the Le Mans-winning GTR in 1995. Another one in Grand Prix Red was given to Michael Andretti, who had a short stint at McLaren in Formula 1. Let’s not forget the F1 GTR art car sporting a unique livery designed by renowned French artist César Baldaccini.
Not too far from the main display was the McLaren MP4/4 that Ayrton Senna drove during the 1988 season, the same year when Gordon Murray and Ron Dennis conspired to start building a road car while waiting for a delayed flight in Italy.
In addition to the cars, the gathering featured lots of F1 memorabilia, notably the specialized tool kit that every F1 buyer received since the company had no service centres at the time (McLaren engineers performed maintenance and repair work at the owner's location).
