Dodge Charger, Challenger Both Get Swinger Special Edition

The third and fourth special-edition models announced by Dodge to mark the end of the Charger and Challenger in their current form pay tribute to the unique style of the brand’s “swinging” muscle car lineup of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Inspired by the Dodge Dart Swinger, which was available with cool options such as green-on-green interior/exterior colour combinations, the new 2023 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack Swinger and Dodge Charger Scat Pack Swinger aim to bring the unique, fun character of the original Swingers back to life, according to Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis.

Once again, only 1,000 units will be made, all based on the Scat Pack 392 Widebody package with a 6.4-litre HEMI V8. Customers will be able to choose from F8 Green and Sublime Green exterior colour options, with a White Knuckle option also available (but why?).

As a further nod to the classic Swingers, Gold School badges are applied to the grille, fenders and spoiler. The Shaker hood intake and 20-inch alloy wheels are also finished in Gold School, the latter hiding six-piston Brembo brakes painted in black. Retro Swinger graphics on the trunklid and rear fenders complete the look.

The interior is not all-green, of course, but there’s green stitching throughout and a green Swinger badge on the dashboard. The seats are wrapped in a mix of Nappa leather and Alcantara suede.

No modification has been made to the 6.4-litre V8, which continues to deliver 485 horsepower. Pricing information will be available on the company’s website when vehicle ordering opens this fall.

Two more special editions of the Challenger and Charger will be announced between now and September 21. The seventh and final 2023 Dodge model—the very last of its kind—will be revealed at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, scheduled for November 1-4, 2022.
