Dodge Once Again Revives Super Bee for 2023

The folks at Dodge seem all too happy to go back to the past for their series of seven “Last Call” special-edition models marking the end of the Dodge Charger and Challenger in their current form. Hot on the heels of the Challenger Shakedown, here comes the 2023 Charger Super Bee.

The classic moniker dates back to a performance coupe based on the 1968-1970 Coronet and 1971 Charger. It has also been used several times during this century.

“The Dodge Super Bee is more than commemorative of a cool heritage name—it is also a Charger variant of the Challenger 1320 grassroots race package,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis. “The special-edition 2023 Dodge Charger Super Bee once again offers a Dodge vehicle that is equally at home on the street or on the drag strip.”

Only 500 Charger Scat Pack 392 units in B5 Blue and 500 Widebody models in delightful Plum Crazy will be built for the entire North American market. Dodge refuses to specify how many of those will be allocated to Canada.

The cars obviously stand out with Super Bee graphics on the functional hood scoop and rear fenders, plus Super Bee badging on the grille and front fenders. Black Mopar hood pins and SRT black exhaust tips are included, too. Inside, you’ll find Super Bee signatures on the seats and dashboard.

For performance enthusiasts, the main goodie is a set of drag radials which are 275mm wide on the 20x9.5-inch wheels (Scat Pack 392) or 315mm wide on the 18x11-inch wheels (Scat Pack 392 Widebody). Behind those wheels are red four-piston Brembo brakes along with an adaptive suspension that features a Drag mode, naturally.

No modification has been made to the 6.4-litre HEMI V8, which continues to deliver 485 horsepower. Pricing information will be available on the company’s website when vehicle ordering opens this fall.

Four more special editions of the Challenger and Charger will be announced between now and September 21. The seventh and final 2023 Dodge model—the very last of its kind—will be revealed at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, scheduled for November 1-4, 2022.
