A 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer just sold for $115,000 US on the Bring a Trailer virtual auction site. Converted to Canadian dollars, this amount represents $147,074. It is important to note that this Grand Wagoneer is not just an old Grand Wagoneer. It has been fully restored, on top of having a recent powertrain under the hood.

In fact, the old 360 cubic inch V8 engine has been replaced by a HEMI V8 engine from a 2007 Jeep Commander donor vehicle. Power is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission paired with a two-speed transfer case.

Of course, some reengineering was in order, and the Commander also provided its axles, suspension components and disc brakes. As you can see on the pictures, this Grand Wagoneer is not equipped with its original rims – the owner slapped on some 17-inch wheels instead of the original 15-inch ones. They were crafted by the Ontario-based Augment Wheel Company while keeping the vintage design.

The original instrumentation has been replaced by a more modern, partially digital cluster. The odometer has been reset to zero following its restoration. It now reads 500 miles (805 kilometres). And the truck has been repainted in Olympic White, its original colour. And of course, it had the fake wood panels!

This is by far the highest-priced Grand Wagoneer on this site. The previous record was set in 2018 when a 1989 Grand Wagoneer sold for $79,000 USD. This particular was powered by an LS3 V8 LS3 from General Motors.
