Dodge Files to Trademark Tomahawk Name, But What is it For?
Summer is going to be hot and exciting for Dodge and its fans, especially around mid-August. As part of a multi-day event called “Dodge Speed Week” in Pontiac, Michigan, the brand will host three worldwide premieres.
These include “current muscle announcements” (possibly a final celebration of the combustion engine), a “gateway muscle announcement” (likely the upcoming Dodge Hornet) and a “future muscle announcement.”

It’s pretty safe to assume the last one refers to the electric muscle car Dodge plans to launch in 2024. In fact, we’ve been promised that a concept will debut as early as this year. What better venue for that than the Dodge Speek Week?
Now, it’s been reported that FCA US (part of the larger Stellantis group) last week filed to trademark the “Tomahawk” name in the U.S. What could it be intended for? Good question.
In our opinion, one of the most plausible scenarios is Dodge using it for one of its new models or at least the powertrain that will replace the Hellcat. If not a Dodge Tomahawk, there could very well be a Dodge Challenger Tomahawk. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
CarBuzz also raises the possibility that the name could be used by Jeep to go along with the existing Trailhawk and Trackhawk. That makes sense, too. We’ll find out for sure later this summer, so stay tuned.
By the way, FCA's performance division SRT created a Tomahawk concept with up to 2,590 horsepower for the Gran Turismo video game back in 2015. There was also a Tomahawk two-seater, mid-engine sports car designed and developed in Quebec by Dubuc Motors.
