Alberta Man Taken for a Ride on Honda Civic Roof, Driver Arrested

RCMP in northwestern Alberta have made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred in Whitecourt Monday. At around 9 p.m., a man approached a Honda Civic that was on his property to discuss with the driver. The driver proceeded to accelerate and hit the homeowner, who landed up on the roof of the compact car.

That’s where things went from bad to worse, because the suspect drove from Range Road 123C on Highway 32 for six-kilometre stretch with the man still on the roof clinging on to his life.

Fortunately, the Honda Civic drove past the RCMP detachment in Whitecourt, where the victim was ejected. The man was quickly transported to the hospital, but has since been released.

Police was still looking for the driver Tuesday after asking for help finding the 7th generation Honda Civic coupe and its driver.

The RCMP state that the car had sustained damage to the front bumper, had a broken driver’s side window and a burnt-out brake light.

Today, police said it had made the arrest of 59-year-old Claudio Foglia, of Whitecourt. The man was charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and failing to comply with an undertaking.
