Nissan Brings Back Rugged Pathfinder Rock Creek for 2023

SUVs designed with adventure and off-road driving in mind are one of the latest trends across the industry, so Nissan has decided to bring back the Pathfinder Rock Creek for 2023. A similar model was available in the final two years of the previous generation (2019-2020).

“The 2022 Pathfinder was all about a ‘return to rugged,’ and the Pathfinder Rock Creek takes that spirit even further,” said Michael Colleran, Nissan’s senior vice president of U.S. marketing and sales, two days before the model’s public debut at the New York Auto Show.

It all starts with a 16mm suspension lift, then the company adds 18-inch, beadlock-style wheels in a two-tone finish and all-terrain tires. Up top is a new tubular roof rack that can carry as much as 100 kg (220 lbs) of extra gear.

As you can see, the exterior look has also been revised to include rugged lower body cladding, a black grille surround and unique mesh inserts, not to mention of course the Rock Creek badges on the front doors and rear liftgate.

Rock Creek logos can be found inside, too, more specifically on the exclusive leatherette/fabric seats and centre armrest. Orange contrast stitching is applied to the seats, steering wheel, instrument panel, centre console and door panels.

Two additional upgrades will please drivers. One is an Off-Road Mode for the 360-degree surround view system. Meanwhile, the V6 engine delivers up to 295 hp (+11) and 270 lb-ft. of torque (+11), but you have to feed it with premium gasoline in order to benefit from the extra output.

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder will go on sale in late summer with Canadian pricing to be announced closer to launch. The new Rock Creek edition will directly rival the likes of the Ford Explorer Timberline, Honda Pilot TrailSport and GMC Acadia AT4.
