Chevrolet Silverado EV to Hit the Market Late in 2023

As we reported back in October, the fully electric variant of the Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup will debut at CES in Las Vegas, more specifically during the opening keynote delivered by GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra on January 5, 2022. However, future customers will have to wait another two years or so.

Doug Parks, executive vice president for global product development at General Motors, has confirmed that the zero-emission Chevy truck will enter production in early 2023. The first deliveries, meanwhile, will follow late in the year, likely meaning that the vehicle will arrive as a 2024 model.

The Rivian R1T recently became the first electric pickup to be delivered to customers in the U.S. and is expected to launch in Canada in mid-2022. The GMC Hummer EV, Ford F-150 Lightning and Tesla Cybertruck will also hit the market before the Silverado EV.

What do we know about the latter so far? For starters, it will ride on the same Ultium platform as the Hummer EV and be available with Four-Wheel Steer, a trick chassis feature that enables the vehicle to steer all four wheels in order to improve handling and reduce the turning radius.

When it comes to range, GM projects the Silverado EV will be able to drive up to 640 kilometres on a full charge.

The retail variant will offer the largest fixed-glass roof in the segment along with increased headroom for both front and rear passengers. Similar to Ford’s F-150 Lightning Pro, Chevrolet will also have a truck designed specifically for commercial and fleet customers.

Come back on January 5 for more details and official pictures of the Chevrolet Silverado EV.
