Vancouver Formula E Race Gets Official Date

Canada Day Weekend in Vancouver will be celebrated to the sound (or silence?) of fully electric open-wheel race cars as soon as next year. This is the first time the electrified racing series comes to Canada since the Montreal ePrix back in 2017, a one-time event that prompted a dispute between newly elected Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante and the series promoters. A $3-million settlement has recently been reached between the organizers and the City Montreal in this matter.

The city council voted to bring the event to Vancouver for three years back in May. But we now know that the Canadian E-Fest will host its first ABB Formula E race from June 30 to July 2 in 2022. This three-day event will also feature other events such as a sustainability conference and concerts to entertain e-race fans throughout the weekend.

OSS Group, the Montreal-based promoter for ABB Formula E will hold a press conference in Vancouver on September 15 to provide Vancouverites with more details regarding this event.

Other races on the 2022 calendar include Cape Town, South Africa but also the recurring events in New York, Diriyah, Saudi Arabia as well as London and Mexico City.
