2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV Teased Along With Refreshed Bolt EV

It seems like we’ve been hearing about this model for ages, but now General Motors is finally giving us a preview of the all-new Chevrolet Bolt EUV (as in Electric Utility Vehicle), a crossover based on the Bolt EV hatchback that will get a refresh of its own.

The automaker released two images during the virtual GM Fleet Solutions Summit. One of them shows the Bolt EV and the other the Bolt EUV. Despite the dark treatment, we can see that both vehicles have similar lines and attributes.

They will enter production next summer as 2022 models.

The Chevrolet Bolt EV received key improvements for 2020 and now offers unsurpassed range (417 km) this side of Tesla. A significantly updated version was planned for this fall, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced GM to postpone the launch.

Expect a slightly sportier look, a more modern interior with increased seat comfort, adaptive cruise control and a few other enhancements. Maximum range will remain the same this time, however.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Bolt EUV will be a tad larger with an extended wheelbase resulting in extra passenger room. Versatility will be better, too. This model will become the first non-Cadillac vehicle to offer Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology, which GM wants to include in 22 different models by 2023.

It’s worth noting that neither the Bolt EV nor the Bolt EUV will benefit from the new Ultium battery and architecture that GM unveiled earlier this year. The 2022 Cadillac LYRIQ and GMC Hummer EV will instead be the first to get it.
