2021 Chevrolet Corvette Gets Extra Content, Same Price

Those who are lucky enough to get their hands on one of the first copies of the new, mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette have reason to brag, but others who are still waiting for their turn can find solace in the fact that the 2021 model will offer more features and options at the same base price.

“Our mission was to develop a new sports car, combining the successful attributes of Corvette with the performance and driving experience of mid-engine supercars,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette executive chief engineer. “We are thrilled with the enthusiasm the mid-engine Corvette brought following its launch and are keeping it fresh with new content for the 2021 model.”

So, what are the changes exactly? Let’s start with styling. New body colours are available including Red Mist and Silver Flare. The full-length dual racing stripes can now be ordered in Blue, Orange, Red or Yellow, while a new Stinger Stripe is offered in three colours: Carbon Flash/Edge Red, Carbon Flash/Edge Yellow and Carbon Flash/Midnight Silver.

Inside, the colour palette adds Sky Cool Gray/Yellow Strike. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard. In the current Corvette, these interfaces require a cable. Meanwhile, there’s on-screen visualization for the drive mode and a new digital tachometer appears in Track mode.

GM’s Buckle To Drive feature, which prevents the driver from shifting the vehicle out of Park if their seat belt is not buckled for up to 20 seconds, is part of the standard equipment list for 2021.

Last but not least, customers have now access to the Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension without opting for the Z51 performance package. This next-generation damping system scans the road every millisecond and adapts in as little as 10-15 milliseconds.

The naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 engine doesn’t change. It still delivers up to 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. And as mentioned above, the MSRP remains identical, too—$67,898 for the coupe and $76,898 for the Corvette Convertible.
