2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet Arrive This Summer
After introducing the thoroughly revised and updated 2021 E-Class Sedan and Wagon models in early March, Mercedes-Benz is now ready to add the Coupe and Cabriolet variants.
Once again, styling is more expressive as evidenced by the redesigned grille and front bumper, the new full-LED headlights and taillights along with the pronounced power domes on the hood. There are new wheel designs and additional body colours, as well.

The sportier Mercedes-AMG E 53 models stand out further with an extensively restyled front fascia including an AMG-specific grille, sharper-cut all-LED headlights and a new front splitter, among other features.
The 2021 E-Class interior continues to emphasize comfort, ergonomics, fit and finish, particularly with new appointment colours and materials such as open-pore grey ash wood trim. With the Cabriolet, sun-reflecting leather is available to keep the cabin from getting too hot.
The seats boast a certain number of enhancements. For example, when you specify your height on the media display or via the Mercedes me assistant, the seat automatically moves into a usually fitting position, which you only need to fine-tune afterwards.
Naturally, you’ll also find the latest generation of the MBUX multimedia system, comprised of two 12.3-inch displays mounted side by side.
When it comes to safety and driver assistance, there’s a wide array of technologies in typical Mercedes-Benz fashion. We’d like to highlight the brand new sport steering wheel with sensors that register whether or not the driver is holding the wheel. If the system detects that the driver does not have their hands on the steering wheel for a certain time, a warning cascade is started, which finally activates Emergency Brake Assist if the driver continues to be inactive.
As for the engines, a new 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder replaces the V6 in the E 450 4MATIC. While power (362 hp) and torque (369 lb-ft) are unchanged, the addition of an EQ Boost 48-volt mild hybrid system temporarily delivers an extra 21 hp and 184 lb-ft while improving fuel economy. The official ratings have yet to be announced.
In the high-performance Mercedes-AMG E 53 models, the engine is cranked up to 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the transmission, all-wheel drive system, suspension and chassis control all benefit from more sophisticated tuning.
Unlike the E-Class Sedan, however, neither the Coupe nor the Cabriolet will offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models will start to arrive at Canadian dealerships by the end of summer. Pricing remains unspecified. The outgoing E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet start at $75,400 and $83,000, respectively.
