Ford Mustang Boss 429 Owned by Paul Walker to be Auctioned

Earlier this year, 21 cars, trucks and motorcycles owned by the late actor and avid car enthusiast Paul Walker were put up for sale by Barrett-Jackson in Arizona.

Another vehicle that was part of his incredible collection, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429, will enjoy a similar fate at a Mecum auction in Indianapolis (June 10-18). And it’s expected to fetch a small fortune.

The car is in amazing condition and has logged just 14,575 miles (approx. 23,450 kilometres). No modifications have been made, so everything is original, which will certainly and considerably boost the price.

Oh, and by the way, only 859 units of the Mustang Boss 429 were built in 1969 (another 499 in 1970)—not by Ford but rather by a subcontractor called Kar-Kraft. It’s one of the rarest and highest-valued muscle cars to date.

The engine under that massive hood scoop is the legendary 429-cubic inch (7.0-litre) V8 which generated 375 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. It featured a forged steel crankshaft, steel connecting rods and dry-deck cylinder heads while being mated to a close-ratio four-speed Toploader manual transmission.

Other technical highlights include a “competition type” suspension consisting of heavy-duty springs and shock absorbers, as well as thick sway bars front and rear. Power steering was standard, as were power front disc brakes.

The Mustang Boss 429 sported a toned-down exterior compared to other Mustangs of the era. The one owned by Paul Walker had black vinyl bucket seats, an AM radio and the Deluxe Décor group, which added wood-grain vinyl appliques to the dashboard and centre console.

How much do you think it will sell for?
