2020 Cadillac CT4: Full Lineup Details Revealed

Using a social media campaign to hopefully attract a new generation of sport-luxury customers., General Motors yesterday announced the full 2020 Cadillac CT4 lineup.

Only the high-performance CT4-V had been shown so far.

We now know that buyers will have a choice of four trim levels from launch: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport and CT4-V. All come standard with rear-wheel drive and are available with all-wheel drive.

Two Engines

First, a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine provides 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

A 2.7-litre turbo is available on Premium Luxury and standard on CT4-V. It generates 309 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque with the former, but 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet with the latter. A 10-speed automatic handles shifting.

In each case, GM’s Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and automatic stop/start technologies are included to save fuel. Selectable drive modes allow customers to enhance their vehicle settings for different preferences and conditions. These include Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice and Track, while the CT4-V adds a new My Mode and V Mode.

Sporty Sedan

Cadillac promises exceptional agility in the segment thanks to a near-perfect weight distribution and enhancements to the front and rear suspensions. The electric power steering is made by Bosch and Brembo front brakes are standard on Sport and CT4-V versions. Continental self-sealing tires are a first for a compact luxury sport sedan.

If you dream of an almighty CT4 with performance credentials to match the best from Germany, great news: Cadillac will later expand the lineup with a new variant sitting above the CT4-V. Specifications have yet to be confirmed, however.

Distinctive Exterior

Physically, the 2020 Cadillac CT4 stands out with a long hood and a low, wide stance. Each trim also features LED exterior lighting including headlamps, taillamps and signature vertical lights at all four corners, plus a selection of 11 body colours.

Bright exterior accents, along with unique grilles (with premium hot foil-stampings on the grille elements) and fascia, distinguish the CT4 Luxury and Premium Luxury trims. The Sport and CT4-V are differentiated by darker accents and performance-inspired details, including unique grilles, fascia, rocker extensions, rear spoiler and exclusive performance design wheels.

Sleek, Modern Interior

We hear that the interior of the 2020 Cadillac CT4 is centered around the driver and that the various controls are ergonomically positioned. A number of metal accents provide contrast. Overall, there are eight distinct interior colour, material and trim options to choose from.

A high-definition, eight-inch touchscreen is the focal point for the CT4’s connectivity. Its integration atop the centre stack follows the current trend in the industry. Other sophisticated features and amenities include a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a full-colour dual-display driver information centre, a high-definition rear-view camera and LED interior lighting with stealth mode.

The new CT4 also incorporates Cadillac’s latest technologies, most notably the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system (beginning in calendar year 2020) for more than 320,000 kilometres of compatible highways in Canada and the U.S.

Orders for the 2020 Cadillac CT4 will start later this year with units manufactured at the GM Lansing Grand River assembly plant in Michigan, which received a $211-million investment to build the next-generation Cadillac sedans. Pricing will be announced just before that.
