Hyundai Recalls 255,000 Vehicles for an Engine Software Update

Hyundai Canada will recall 255,370 cars and sport utility vehicles to perform an update to the engine control module to detect potential problems before the engine fails.

Affected models include the 2013-2018 Santa Fe Sport and 2014-2015 Tucson SUVs as well as the 2011-2018 Sonata midsize sedan.

Hyundai felt that adding an extra layer of protection to the electronic control module was necessary.

The automaker will notify owners and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the ECU software. Alternatively, you can check if this recall applies to you by using Hyundai Canada’s recall lookup tool.

For the record, a certain number of units have already been repaired under previous service campaigns.
