FCA Unveils the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock and Ram Heavy Duty pickups

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is introducing two new pickups to the Canadian market, and they’re both on display at the Toronto Auto Show.

The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is an extensively redesigned version of the company’s hard-working pickup truck. It boasts new styling, revised suspension and brakes as well as new technologies, but one thing hasn’t changed—excellent towing capacity.

As standard, it’s equipped with a 6.4-litre HEMI V8 that develops 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, for maximum capabilities, it’s best to opt for the Cummins turbo-diesel, 6.7-litre inline-six that belts out 400 horsepower and a massive 1,000 pound-feet of torque. With the latter, the 2019 Ram HD is rated to tow up to 15,921 kilograms or 35,100 pounds.

Although FCA released the new-generation, 2019 Ram 1500 pickup, the previous-generation model is still available this year as the 1500 Classic. To give it a little more momentum, the automaker released the Ram 1500 Classic Warlock, which also pays tribute to the factory-built Dodge Warlock pickup trucks of the 1970s.

Based on the SLT grade, this new variant receives the Rebel’s black grille and RAM billboard tailgate lettering, powder-coated bumpers, a one-inch lift kit, 20-inch semi-glossy alloy wheels, black side steps and Warlock badging. Buyers can also choose an optional Sport hood. Standard features also include a spray-in bedliner, gray cloth upholstery, rear park sonar, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a Uconnect infotainment system with 8.4-inch touchscreen and navigation.

The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock is available in Quad Cab and Crew Cab configurations, with the choice of a 305-horsepower, 3.6-litre V6 or a 395-hp, 5.7-litre V8. An eight-speed automatic and a four-wheel drivetrain are included. The pickup will go on sale in Canada in this spring starting at $51,715 before freight and delivery charges.
