2019 Ram 1500 Sport: a Canadian Exclusivity

The redesigned Ram 1500 pickup made its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, and six trim levels were initially announced, which includes the Tradesman, the Big Horn, the Rebel, the Laramie, the Limited and the Longhorn.

At the Toronto Auto Show, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles unveiled the 2019 Ram 1500 Sport, a standalone version of their full-size pickup that will be exclusive to the Canadian market.

The current-generation Ram offers a Sport trim level, and it accounts for about 30% of the truck’s sales in Canada, so it was only logical to continue offering it in the new pickup.

The 2019 Ram 1500 Sport features a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 that develops 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both 4x2 and 4x4 drivetrains will be offered in the Sport.

The truck’s monochromatic exterior appearance includes a front grille with black inserts, black badging, black window trim, 20-inch black alloy wheels and LED lighting all around. A set of 22-inch wheels and a sportier hood design are optional as well.

The 1500 Sport’s cabin, which is available in either Quad Cab or Crew Cab configurations, receives a blacked-out treatment, too. Cloth upholstery, heated front seats, power-adjustable pedals, a heated steering wheel as well as a Uconnect infotainment system with 8.4-inch touchscreen. Leather seating, ventilated seats and—on Crew Cab models—a dual-pane sunroof can be added.

Pricing hasn’t yet been specified, but the 2019 Ram 1500 Sport will be on sale in Canada this spring.
