We’re Heading to the Rockies for the 2018 Honda Accord!

This week, we’ll be in Jasper, Alberta for the Canadian unveiling of the 2018 Honda Accord. Always a popular choice for midsize sedan buyers, the Honda Accord is currently one of the best-selling sedans in Canada. Now in its tenth generation, this new Accord will be built on an all-new platform and will be powered by two fresh-out-of-the-box four-cylinder turbo engines. The V6, as well as the Accord coupe, are now discontinued.

Entry-level models will come with the same 1.5-litre turbo four as in the Civic and CR-V. In the Accord, Honda claims 192 horsepower and 192 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed manual will come standard, while a continuously variable automatic will be optional.

To replace the V6, an all-new 2.0-litre turbo four, which shares several mechanical components with the Civic Type R’s engine, will be offered for consumers wanting a bit more mojo from their Accord. This engine will be available with either a six-speed manual or a ten speed automatic. Honda claims a power output of 252 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. of torque for this unit, with an expected fuel consumption rating of 6.9 L/100 km.

We certainly hope that this new engine will offer similar performance as the V6. One thing we do like so far is that all versions of the Accord will be available with a manual transmission, which tells us Honda intends to keep the Accord’s sporty character alive, a trait that has allowed it to distinguish itself from its somewhat lukewarm rivals for so long.

Stay tuned for our complete story coming soon!
