2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon: More Capable

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles understood a long time ago that creating special editions of the Jeep Wrangler not only keeps sales going, but also keeps the media talking about their iconic vehicle. Which is what we’re doing right now.

The 2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon will hit dealerships this month with a few enhancements to make it even more capable during off-road adventures. The Recon benefits from a half-inch lift, a front axle with strengthened tubes and heavy-duty end forgings, heavy-duty cast differential covers front and rear as well as enhanced off-road rock rails that are shorter, so 35-inch tires can be fitted to the vehicle. The rest of the drivetrain is pure Rubicon with electronic-locking Dana 44 axles, a Rock-Trac transfer case and Tru-Lok locking differentials.

The Recon also receives a flat black grille with gray inserts, flat black bumpers, red tow hooks, unique 17-inch alloy wheels with 32-inch BFGoodrich KM off-road tires, a dual-vented hood power dome, black Rubicon decals and a choice of seven paint colours. Body-colour fender flares are also available.

Inside, standard features include the Connectivity Group, Power Convenience Group, satellite radio, climate control, remote starter, leather upholstery with embroidered Rubicon logo, heated seats, a leather-wrapped wheel with red stitching, red seat belts, a trip computer with added information and a dash plaque. A Sunrider soft top is standard, while a body-colour hard top is optional.

The 2017 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon, in two-door configuration and equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, will be sold in Canada at an MSRP of $47,040 before freight and delivery charges. The Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Recon will be priced at $49,440.
